Canon have introduced a new feature-packed multimedia LCD projector, the Canon LV-X5, that has a high specification at a very competative price. The Canon LV-X5 multimedia LCD projector has advanced capabilities to satisfy the most demanding professional in education, business, government, law, medicine and other sectors without breaking the budget. This LCD projector offers a high-quality XGA (1024 x 768) image, a smooth, modern design and plenty of new features to make operation fast and simple.
“Canon is constantly working to address practical user needs and budgets by engineering better products with features that provide even greater value,” said Yukiaki Hashimoto, senior vice president and general manager of the Consumer Imaging Group at Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. “The LVX5 LCD multimedia projector is an example of how Canon meets the requirements and budgets of our customers without sacrificing quality performance.”
Projector Image Quality
A very average 1500 ANSI lumens means you will need to dim the lights, and only 400:1 contrast ratio doesn’t give full depth to the image. This is not a projector for a high quality home theater experience, but it does a good job in the conference room. As well as native XGA (1024 x 768) resolution, the Canon LV-X5 also supports UXGA (1600 x 1200) and SXGA (1280 x 1024) through good-quality compression.
The 1.2X zoom lens, adjustable with a slider control on the projector housing gives a good short throw distance: a 100-inch image from under 10 feet away. Another neat feature is Wall Color Correction. This displays colors more accurately when a projection screen isn’t available, with seven settings (blackboard, light yellow, light green, light blue, sky blue, light rose, and pink). There is also Automatic Keystone Adjustment which instantly corrects the image by +/-30 degrees vertically when the LCD projector is not centered.
Versatile Input Options
One area where the Canon LV-X5 LCD projector shines is its large array of input options. You can present data from laptop computers, video from VCRs and DVD players, or live images from the Canon RE-455X Visualizer. There is also the option to connect to Canon digital camcorders and digital cameras. Connections include S-Video, Composite, Component (through the VGA terminal via an optional cable), two VGA input terminals, one VGA output terminal (for connection to a computer monitor); and audio input and output.
A range of Input Buttons with Light-Up Indicators on top of the LCD projector allow you to switch between sources with an LED light showing which input is being used. The LV-X5 also features an Easy Menu Display for on-screen adjustments, allowing you to change settings easily, in any one of 21 different languages.
Convenient Portable LCD Projector
For quick set-up and pack away, the LV-X5 has Quick Start (about nine seconds from switch-on to image display) and Quick Cooling (cool down in approximately 30 seconds). There is also a Quiet Mode, reducing fan noise to only 28dB, allowing the audience to focus more on the presentation. At around 7 pounds this is not the lightest in its class, but it is still a well put together machine. The Long-Life Lamp feature can give up to 4,000 hours of operation, reducing the running costs of this model. A good all-rounder for the price.
